Laboratory Services

We have an extremely well equipped laboratory which is based at Pride Park Hospital

Fully equipped on-site laboratory

Our laboratory has a wide range of equipment that allows us to undertake bacteriological, biochemical and haematological investigations.

 

We have a full suite of diagnostic equipment including an endocrinology analyser, IDEXX Procyte for running haematology samples and a ‘wet’ chemistry system for biochemistry samples.

 

Having the lab in-house provides a faster speed of results, meaning we can diagnose cases quicker.

Turnaround of Results

Our lab receives an average of 1400 test requests each month. The turnaround of lab results is largely based on the urgency of the test sent in:

  • Routine (e.g. blood screens): 3-6 hours
  • Urgent (e.g. for critically ill patients): within 1 hour
  • STAT (crashed patients): within 1 hour
  • Chemo tests: 10 minutes
  • Pre-general anaesthetic: within 1 hour
