Pet Hydrotherapy & Veterinary Physiotherapy

Our facilities at Pride Veterinary Centre include a state-of-the-art physiotherapy and hydrotherapy unit.

We offer a range of rehabilitation services at Pride Veterinary Centre including canine physiotherapy and rehabilitation in our hydrotherapy pool and water treadmill.

Hydrotherapy can be used to help with mobility or for exercise. Fun swim sessions are also available in our pool.

Rehabilitation and physiotherapy are used after illness or an accident to help your pet get back to it’s usual fit and healthy self.

  • Canine Physiotherapy
Many canine conditions result in weaknesses in the back end. Dogs tend to over compensate with their front and as a result, their shoulders become sore. Physiotherapy will help to relieve the tension and pain in this area.

    Canine Physiotherapy is ideal for:

    • Sporting and working dogs
    • Injured dogs
    • Congenital and orthopaedic conditions
    • Neurological problems
    • After surgery
  • Hydrotherapy
This involves the use of movement in water to relieve discomfort and promote physical wellbeing. Hydrotherapy is suitable for dogs of all shapes and sizes, and is beneficial in recovery from injury, conditions such as arthritis and for obesity.
  • Rehabilitation
Offering both day and inpatient care, our rehabilitation unit is designed to very high veterinary standards whilst being decorated to give a homely feel for your pet. Rehabilitation includes the use of exercise with a range of equipment to encourage movement to improve muscle bulk, strength and co-ordination.
  • Acupuncture
This treatment is administered by inserting very tiny needles into different areas of the skin. This achieves the therapeutic stimulation of the nerves and tissue which has a positive effect on not only the ailment being treated, but on the whole body.
  • Combining Treatments
In some cases it is necessary for dogs to receive a combined treatment of both Hydrotherapy and Physiotherapy.

This can be for a number of reasons, but the most common situation is where muscle wastage is so great that treatment is required every day. Realistically coming for hydrotherapy treatment everyday isn’t practical. Your dog will be assessed and you will be given things that you can do at home everyday to help regain their lost muscle bulk.

With hydrotherapy treatment the dog will be using all four legs. If one leg needs particular attention more than the others physiotherapy treatment can be used to target specific muscle groups only. Again you can be given exercises to do at home.
