Scarsdale Vets have teamed up with Move More Derby to organise a second Woofs and Walkies Charity Dog Walk on Sunday 12th September to raise money for Support Dogs.

Scarsdale Vets is a Move More Derby Proud Partner. The partnership, which spans over 3 years, means the walks arranged collaboratively aim to get the people of Derby moving and enjoy nature. As a Proud Partner, Scarsdale Vets recognise the role both physical activity and pets can play in supporting people’s health and wellbeing.

Move More Derby is a city-wide initiative which aims to strive for an active Derby for everyone. The initiative aims to improve the health, wellbeing and quality of life of people in Derby.

Join Scarsdale Vets for a family-friendly charity dog walk on Sunday 12th September which aims to raise money for Support Dogs whilst providing a safe environment to do so. We encourage families, friends and individuals to bring their dogs and enjoy a walk around Alvaston Park.

Walkers can arrive at Pride Veterinary Centre from 10.00am to purchase refreshments ahead of the planned walk. Walkers and their dogs will then set off from Pride Veterinary Centre at 10.30am. They will then walk the Alvaston Park route which leads walkers back to Pride Veterinary Centre. The walk will take approximately 1 hour to complete. After returning back to Pride Veterinary Centre, walkers will receive a goody bag and a certificate of completion.

Support Dogs is Scarsdale Vets’ annual chosen charity of 2021/22. The charity is dedicated to increasing independence and quality of life for adults and children with various medical conditions. They provide training and support specialist assistance dogs to achieve this. The services provided are entirely free to those in need of them.

Natasha, Managing Director said: ‘Exercise has been particularly important during the course of the pandemic. Paired with beloved pets, together they have provided much needed support during challenging times. By organising the Woofs and Walkies Charity Dog Walk, we aim to provide a fun-family event for everyone to enjoy.’

Natasha, Managing Director continued: ‘We look forward to welcoming everyone and their dogs in what promises to be a great event. It’s a chance for everyone to enjoy the outdoors rain or shine with our beloved companions whilst raising money for our chosen charity, Support Dogs.’

Katy West, Move More Co-ordinator at Derby City Council said: “It is fantastic to be developing our partnership with Scarsdale Vets whilst engaging the local community. We are combining their passion for pets with the role that both they and physical activity can play in improving people’s physical and mental wellbeing. This collaboration is a great opportunity to bring people together, enjoy a social walk along the riverside path and Alvaston Park and have some fun.”

Councillor Ross McCristal, Derby City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Tourism and Wellbeing, added: “Move More is very much about working with our partners across the city to help people become more physically active, and this is a great example of this in action. I hope everyone has a great time raising money for charity.”

Tickets are on sale now via Eventbrite. To purchase a £3 ticket for your dog to take part, please click here. Adults are welcome to make a charitable donation of their choice to Support Dogs on the day should they wish to.
