We are delighted that Marie Rippingale, Head Equine Nurse at our Markeaton branch has recently passed her year one Diploma of Higher Education Clinical Veterinary Nursing (DipCVN) in equine context with distinctions in all subjects. Only qualified veterinary nurses can register for the DipCVN. This is the first year the DipCVN has been run for Equine Veterinary Nurses (EVNs) and Marie is one of three students studying for the qualification.  Units attempted during the first year included: Essential Study, IT and Research Skills, Law, Ethics and Professional Practice, Applied Veterinary Physiology and Systematic Delivery of Veterinary Nursing Care. Next year Marie is looking forward to studying Veterinary anaesthesia, Medical nursing, Surgical nursing and Theatre practice. The DipCVN encourages the use of evidence based medicine in veterinary nursing practice in order to raise standards of inpatient care.
