We like to introduce you to a member of our team on a regular basis. To keep the practices working effectively, we have a small army of staff working tirelessly to provide you and your pets with the very best in veterinary care.
This month we find out about Debbie Woodhouse, Senior Veterinary Nurse working at Pride Veterinary Centre.
When did you start working for Scarsdale Vets?
I started working for Scarsdale in 2005 during my placement year of my veterinary nursing degree at Harper Adams University and came back in 2006 when I had finished my foundation degree.
What does your job entail on a day to day basis?
I am in charge of inpatient care in Wards and ICU (Intensive Care Unit), so my day to day jobs are to ensure all patients are being cared for to the highest of standards by the wards nursing team and team of kennel assistants. On the wards and in ICU we are responsible for administering medications, feeding, and providing care to patients with a wide variety of conditions and illnesses.
What do you love the most about working at Scarsdale Vets?
One of the things I love about my job is nursing these animals back to health as it is hugely rewarding. I love spending time with each patient and ensuring we are doing everything we can to help them during their stay. I have a particular interest in working in intensive care and I have completed my certificate in emergency and critical care. I enjoy being part of a supportive Wards and ICU team that is so passionate and driven to nursing these patients to best of our ability.
When you are not at work, tell us a little bit about what else you do?
Outside of work my 3 year old son keeps me busy along with my lively terrier and 3 legged cat! I love spending time with my family and seeing friends regularly
