What Pets Do You Have?

I live on a farm, so I have lots of animals at home.

We keep pedigree Texel and Cheviots and I have just had my own flock of Kerry Hill sheep. We also have a large commercial flock of sheep all of which will be lambing soon so will keep us very busy.

We also have a few cows and a couple of pigs.

As well as this, I have dogs too! Bramble, who is our very spoilt Cocker Spaniel, a Lakeland Russel Terrier called Rosie and four Border Collies who help with the sheep.

Tell Us More About Your Pets

The sheep don’t have names because there are so many of them however, we know each one of them individually and can tell you their breeding. We show the pedigree sheep each with the prefix of ‘Ormerley’ throughout the summer at lots of agricultural shows which is a great success, we as a family are very proud of the quality stock that we produce.

We chose each different breed of the sheep for their individual breed qualities and they are breeds that we like. Bramble is very cheeky and extremely spoilt, she makes us laugh every day.

Rosie loves getting to potter around the farm.

The collies: Val is now retired at the grand age of 12, Cruz is invaluable, he helps a great deal with the sheep and he adores my dad. We also have two younger dogs who are currently in training.

We have the collies because they are a shepherd’s faithful companion and work mate. We had always wanted a Cocker Spaniel and we just adore her, and my brother wanted another terrier having always had them growing up.

One Thing You Want People To Know

If there is one thing about all of our animals that I would want people to know it is that yes, I am a veterinary nurse but being brought up farming with a family who love animals is an incredible gift. Farmers have an amazing passion for their animals, and we adore our dogs and are very proud of the livestock that we produce.
