– Ticks are the 2nd most common external parasite to affect dogs.
– Ticks are a particular concern because they are 2nd only to mosquitoes in transmitting infectious diseases. Lymes disease is one of the most common diseases and can cause symptoms like stiffness and lethargy.

It is important to remove a tick using special tick hooks as simply pulling the tick may cause the head and body to separate, leaving the head embedded in the skin which increases the risk of infection.

This can be done at home or during a vet/nurse consult.

Products are available which repel and kill the ticks and are recommended if you are travelling to high risk areas such as the Lake District, Devon, Scotland and some parts of Europe.
