Dolby is a beautiful Dachshund who came in for spinal surgery after having PicsPetsDolbyLucydeterioration of weakness in his hind limbs.

After his successful surgery, he recovered well and is now having regular physiotherapy, which includes effleurage and petrissage (massage techniques to increase blood circulation), manipulating the limbs to recreate the passive range of motion, and also carrying out some sensory feedback activities. These include using different textures and temperatures on the pads of the hind limbs to help send nerve impulses back to the brain to increase Dolby’s proprioception.

It is an enjoyable stimulation exercise for Dolby, carried out by one of our student veterinary nurses, Lucy.
