Surgical Procedures

While some small or emergency surgical procedures can be carried out on the owners premises it is often preferable to bring the patient into the surgery. This has several advantages-

Economic - There is no visit charge.

Safety of anaesthesia - While the majority of small farm animals have anaesthesia induced and maintained by injectable agents it is often safer to have access to gaseous anaesthesia in the event of problems.

Staff - The surgery has experienced surgical nurses available to help & assist.

Amongst the surgical operations which may be carried out at the surgery are:-

  • Hernia correction
  • Castration
  • Eye surgery
  • Lump/bump removal

Vaccine requirements for small ruminants can be discussed and vaccine plans instituted at the surgery.
