Referrals

A significant proportion of our work is providing first opinion equine veterinary services for horses and ponies in the practice catchment area of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and Leicestershire. However we do accept lameness, medicine, poor performance and reproduction investigations and some surgical cases from local and regional practices.

Horse owners who wish to be referred to the practice should do so via their veterinary surgoen in the first instance.  Referral cases are seen by Wendy Furness MA VetMB CertEP MRCVS, Jackie Paton BVSc CertEP MRCVS, Gayle Halowell MA VetMB CertVA Dip ACVIM-LAIM MRCVS, Mark Bowen BVetMed PhD CertEM (IntMed) MRCVS and some visiting specialist surgeons.

There are some scenarios where people request second opinions and we will act as second opinion vets when appropriate. We will always however approach the first opinion vet in line with ethical and RCVS guidelines.
